Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty is a surgical operation, the essence of which is to remove excess skin and subcutaneous fat in the abdomen, followed by tightening the muscles of the abdominal wall.

Abdominoplasty is performed in case of:

• presence of excessive volumes of skin and adipose tissue, which do not decrease or disappear even with diet and sports;
• presence of hernial neoplasms in the navel area; 
• the presence of gross scars and scarring resulting from past surgeries performed in the lower abdomen; 
• drooping abdominal muscles forming an "apron";
• the presence of stretch marks, which are accompanied by excess adipose tissue in the lower abdomen;
• diastasis, laxity of the skin, stretch of muscle abdominal tissues;
• presence of severe fat folds on the abdomen; 
• lack of expressiveness of waist contour. 

The purpose of the surgery is carried out exclusively by a plastic surgeon, who makes a decision after a thorough examination and collection of general information about the patient.

There are several types of surgery to excise excess skin and adipose tissue in the abdomen:

1. Classical. It is considered the most extensive type of surgery, since it affects all parts of the abdomen and suggests a slight displacement of the umbilical region.
2. Vertical. During the treatment, a vertical incision is made along the midline of the abdomen. It is considered the "male" type of plastic, since it is in them that fat deposits accumulate at the top of the peritoneum.
3. Mini abdominoplasty. It is a minimally invasive surgery through minor incisions along the bikini line. This type is recommended in the presence of small leatherback accumulations.
4. Endoscopic. Suitable for tightening minor sagging of the skin. It is characterized by low invasiveness and rapid recovery.

Regardless of the type of abdominoplasty, it is carried out under general anesthesia, and its duration can be from 1 to 5 hours. At the same time, the result is always the same - a beautiful and tight stomach.

The general technique of surgery involves general anesthesia. What happens after:

• the doctor marks the places of future incisions; 
• liposuction is performed, in which excess fat deposits are removed;
• incisions are made along lines pre-marked on the abdomen;
• suturing of abdominal wall muscles;
• the excess subcutaneous fat is removed;
• movement and fixation of the navel in its natural position.

The average time for abdominoplasty is 2 hours.

The rehabilitation period after abdominal correction is conditionally divided into 3 large stages: a month, six months, a year. The most difficult is the first month, since it is during this time that the most stringent prohibitions and restrictions apply. By the beginning of the second month, the wounds begin to heal, and some of the restrictions are removed.

Over the course of six months, scars gradually change their appearance and become almost invisible. After this period, intermediate conclusions are drawn about the result of the surgery. Final results are made a year later, provided that there are no complications during the recovery period.
